We booked the Happier 3 Kuga Toyota van with lucky rentals, aka happy campers. We were a bit worried about our booking after reading some of the reviews, however we had zero problems and had an amazing 2 week trip around the south island. The van had 200,000 KMs on the clock and had no issues mechanically, was fine up and down hills and survived heavy rains. I think the bad reviews on Google must be focused on their other vans as the Kuga models are in pretty good condition. Would recommend on a budget. Byo your own mozzie net for the West coast, and get the linen package. Also byo soap, salt pepper and cooking oil etc. These vans were great as well as the battery charged when you drive, so no need to plug in at caravan parks like other companies vans such at tui campers. Our friends rented from Tui campers, and it broke down 3 days in. Fridge was a bit old and tired but did the job. Would recommend these guys iif you're on a budget

We dropped our van off late and the owner drove us right to the airport with his own vehicle. Extremely personable. Kiwis are the kindest people. Please don't let the petty small 1 star reviews deter you from using this company. Cheapest place to rent hands down on the island and the experience was wonderful. We picked up in Christchurch with no hiccups. The van was an older model, which made the experience even more fun, it felt like we were cruising old school. The van had everything you needed for a good experience. Highly recommend this company!!
Jenna GrahamWe rented the rodeo for nearly 3 weeks over Christmas and new year. The car ran well, had quite a few compliments on the kitchen set up, we thoroughly enjoyed driving and sleeping it in. We had an issue with the fridge, unfortunately for the entire time (because of the time of year we couldn’t really get booked in to a garage to try to fix it), but all the contact we had with them was reassuring and they did all they could to assist us, as and when necessary. Collection and drop off of the car was simple, yes busy, but that’s expected. Thank you lucky rentals!!!
